New York: Twitter’s new owner, billionaire Elon Musk, has said that he will resign as the social media company’s chief executive as soon as he finds ‘someone who is stupid enough to be in this position’. His statement came two days after users voted him to step down in an online poll.
- The 51-year-old billionaire had earlier promised to abide by the results of a Twitter poll in which 57.5 percent of users voted ‘yes’ for him to step down.
- Musk did not immediately respond to the poll’s results and made the announcement two days after the poll
The 51-year-old billionaire had earlier vowed to abide by the results of a Twitter poll in which 57.5 percent of users voted ‘yes’ for him to step down. ‘I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone stupid enough to take the position. After that I will only run the software and servers teams,” Musk tweeted on Tuesday.
Musk was asked in an online poll on Sunday whether he should step down as head of Twitter. “I will abide by the results of this poll,” he said. More than 17 million votes were cast in the poll which opened on Sunday evening and closed on Monday morning with a majority of users voting ‘yes’ for him to step down. A total of 57.5 percent people voted ‘Yes’. It is worth mentioning that Musk has 122 million followers on Twitter. Musk did not immediately respond to the poll’s results and announced two days after the poll that he would resign as soon as he found someone foolish enough to fill the position.
