Thiruvananthapuram: India defeated Sri Lanka by a mammoth score of 317 runs in the third ODI at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. And with this the biggest win in ODI history with such a huge run margin has been recorded. Earlier this record was in the name of New Zealand. They had to beat Ireland by 290 runs in 2008. The Indian team’s previous record was a 257-run win against Bermuda in 2007. Virat Kohli, who scored a brilliant century, was declared the player of the match. In this series he scored 283 runs with the help of two centuries in three matches. For this he was also selected as the player of the series.
Along with this, India gave a clean sweep to Sri Lanka for the fourth time
India also won the third ODI match against Sri Lanka. India have given Lanka a clean sweep of 3-0. India won the first ODI by 67 runs and the second ODI by four wickets. Team India has swept Sri Lanka for the fourth time in the ODI series. Earlier in 1982/83, the Indian team defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 in a three-match series. This was followed by a 5-0 victory for Team India in a five-match ODI series on Sri Lanka’s tour of India in 2014/15. Then in the year 2017 too, India won the five-match ODI series 5-0.
Shubman-Rohit gave a brilliant start
In Ravivar’s third ODI match, India won the toss and decided to bat first and after that the Indian team got off to a great start. In the top order today, captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put on 95 runs off 92 balls for the first wicket. Rohit missed his half century. He was dismissed for 42 runs off 49 balls. The captain hit two fours and three sixes in his innings. After this, Shubman along with Kohli put India in a strong position. The duo put on a partnership of 131 runs off 110 balls for the second wicket.
Shubham scored his second ODI century
Shubman Gill scored his second century of ODI career in 89 balls with a brilliant innings. This was his first international century in India. Earlier, Shubham had scored a century against Zimbabwe. Shubman-Kohli’s enduring partnership was broken by Kasun Rajita. He clean bowled Shubman. The young opener played an innings of 116 runs off 97 balls. Shubham hit 14 fours and two sixes in his innings.
