The Police-Administration of Ukraine has arrived at the scene and is carrying out relief and rescue operations. 22 people including 10 children have also been injured in this accident. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. There were several residential buildings near Kiev where the helicopter crashed. So the death toll is expected to rise further. According to a report, Ukraine’s Interior Minister (Home Minister) Denis Monastyrsky was also killed in the accident. The accident happened in the city of Brovary, located near Kiev.
Ukrainian police chief Ihor Klemenko told Politico that three ministers affiliated with the Ukrainian government were killed in the incident. They include Ukraine’s Interior Minister Denis Monastyrskyi, his First Deputy Yevren Yesenin and Secretary of State Yuriy Lubkovic. Kyiv Governor Oleksiy Kuleba said on social media that children and staff were present at the kindergarten (children’s school) at the time of the tragedy. Kuleba further said that 22 people, including 10 children, were also injured in the accident.
The helicopter that crashed was part of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. The cause of the accident is not yet clear. Neither Russia has issued a statement on the incident, nor has Ukraine called it a Russian attack. Deputy Chief of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kirylo Tymoshenko wrote on social media that the government is trying to collect information about the victims of the accident.
