Anand: ‘Through organic farming, soil quality will improve, organic carbon will increase, only then will food and wealth increase. We are suffering the ill effects of excessive use of chemical fertilizers and medicines. In such a situation we have no other option but natural farming. In this direction standardized research and use of technology is required.’ Governor Acharya Devvratji said this in a virtual presence at the graduation ceremony of Anand Agricultural University on Thursday. In the 19th graduation ceremony of Anand Agricultural University, 629 undergraduate and postgraduate students of various faculties of the university were awarded degrees and 31 brilliant students were awarded medals.
Governor Acharya Devvratji appealed to the agricultural scientists of the country and the students of Anand Agricultural University who are pursuing bachelor-postgraduate degrees in agriculture to conduct researches by making maximum use of technology for the development of natural farming methods. Quoting the slogan of Anand Agricultural University, he said that our nation will be rich and prosperous only when it is rich in agriculture. When our mother earth will prosper. It will be to detoxify mother earth, to protect human beings, to save mother cow. So natural farming method must be adopted. India imports two and a half lakh crore worth of chemical fertilizers every year. Therefore, the economic burden on the country also increases. Not only this, indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers increases the cost of farmers, deteriorates the quality of soil, increases water and air pollution, slowly poisons food, resulting in many diseases. Problems like global warming are created.
Questions like over-rainfall and under-rainfall have arisen. How can we save the world if we keep farming like this? Having said that, he said that natural farming is the need of the hour. The solution to all these problems is natural farming. On this occasion, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Raghavjibhai Patel, former Director of IARI and former Chancellor of UAS Dharwad and former Chairman of Karnataka Agriculture Mission Dr. SA Patil, Vice Chancellor of Anand Agricultural University Dr. K.B. Kathiria, General Secretary Dr. G.R. Patel, chairmen and principals of various faculties, scientists, officers, retired scientists and graduate students were present.
