Not only this, Pakistan’s Ministry of Energy also had to issue a statement in this regard. The government has said that the maintenance work is going on fast. It is expected that the supply will start soon. According to a report, this massive power cut is due to a fault in the national grid.
According to the information, there was a fault in the national grid system in Pakistan at 7:34 am on Monday. Even before the Pakistani ministry’s statement, many companies there had started informing people about the power failure on social media. According to Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), two transmission lines from Sindh’s Guddu area to Quetta have been tripped. Due to this, electricity crisis has occurred in 22 districts of Balochistan including Quetta. Many areas of Karachi are also reported to be without electricity.
This mass power cut is no less than a disaster for Pakistan which is struggling with economic recession. Recently, information has come to light that Pakistan is facing a power crisis. The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority of Pakistan has increased the tariff of electricity in the city of Karachi by Rs. 3.30 per unit. In addition, electricity rates for various consumer categories were increased by Rs. 1.49 to Rs. 4.46 per unit was increased.
After implementation of new rates in Pakistan, consumers are getting electricity at the rate of Rs 43 per unit. On top of that, the government is also giving subsidy to the power companies at the rate of 18 rupees per unit. To overcome the power crisis, the government of Pakistan decided to close the markets and restaurants at 8 pm in December 2022.
Let us tell you that compared to India, the people of Pakistan have to pay almost four times more for electricity. The average rate of residential electricity bill in India is Rs 6 to 9 per unit.
