New Delhi: There is big news for India’s Hockey World Cup. With the defeat, the dream of the Indian team (Team India) which became the home team has also been shattered with the result. Today’s match was played with many ups and downs which ended in a tie and went to a penalty shoot out. At the end of which the result was clear. The New Zealand team has now been eliminated from the match after defeating India. The Indian team, which reached the quarter finals, has now been thrown out of the Hockey World Cup.

The score of both the teams was tied at 3-3
In the cross-over match played today in the Hockey World Cup, the Indian team was out of the World Cup after taking the lead against New Zealand in the beginning, but after the score of both teams remained equal at 3-3 in the stipulated time, they lost 4-5 in the penalty shootout. In the penalty shootout, the score was tied 3–3 during the first five penalties, and then in sudden death, New Zealand scored two goals while India scored only one goal.
The Indian team continued to play aggressively
In today’s match, even after the first quarter remained goalless, the Indian team continued to play aggressively. Experienced Lalit Upadhyay scored a field goal in the 17th minute for India. India got penalty corners in the 21st, 23rd and 24th minutes. In the 24th minute, Sukhjit doubled the lead of the host team by scoring a penalty corner. A little later in the 28th minute of the match Sam Lee scored a field goal to make the score 2-1. Varun Kumar scored a penalty in the 40th minute after half-time to give India a 3-1 lead. Three minutes later, Kane Russell scored on a penalty to make the score line 3-2 before the fourth quarter. Then in the 49th minute, Kane Russell scored his second and the team’s third goal to equalize the score.
It is worth mentioning that after the score was tied at 3-3 in the allotted time, the score remained tied at 3-3 in the penalty shootout. After the penalty shootout, Sreejesh was injured while stopping the first goal in sudden death which cost the Indian team heavily.
