New Delhi: The Indian Navy on Monday reached a new high after commissioning its fifth Kalwari-class submarine, INS Vagir, from Mumbai’s Mazgaon docks. In its commissioning, the Navy said the submarine will continue to enhance its capabilities to conduct Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) to advance India’s maritime interests in deterring the enemy and provide critical stocks in times of crisis. This submarine is number five among the other six submarines. It is named after a species of sandfish. Which is called sand shark. It is capable of attacking enemy radars.
INS Vagir is built under Project P-75
The diesel-electric attack submarine INS Vagir has been built under Project P-75. It can also install underwater landmines. It can be taken to a depth of 1150 feet. Equipped with stealth techniques, the technology has been utilized in such a way that the enemy will not easily detect its presence.

Further among the features of this submarine is that it is powered by four MTU 12V 396 SE84 diesel engines. There are 360X battery cells. Apart from this there is also PAFC fuel cell. So it also has a soundless technique. And has the ability to attack the enemy at high speed and make teeth sour. And it runs over the sea waves at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour. But when it dives deep into the sea, its speed is 37 kilometers per hour.
