The news of the biggest upheaval in the Russia-Ukraine War is coming to light. North Korea’s dictator Kim Jong Un has done something that Russian President Putin has never dreamed of. Afraid of US accusations, North Korea has lashed out at Russia. North Korea has refused to supply arms to Russia’s Wagner Group, which is fighting a fierce war in Ukraine. This has surprised even Putin. Kim Jong Un has taken this step after the accusations leveled against North Korea by the US. While Kim Jong Un is a close friend of Putin.
The US accused North Korea of supplying rockets and missiles to the Russian military company Wagner Group. North Korea has denied supplying Russia with weapons after the United States accused Pyongyang of supplying rockets and missiles to Russia’s Wagner Group and helping to bolster Moscow’s forces in Ukraine. This has sent shockwaves through the Russian camp as Kim Jong-un is generally known to defy every order and warning from the US.
North Korea denies the US accusations
In a statement on Sunday, a senior North Korean official called the US accusations “baseless rumours”. Not only that, Washington was accused of justifying its military aid to Ukraine. The US earlier this month labeled Russia’s Wagner Group as a “traditional criminal organization”, citing alleged arms deals with North Korea. It has also been banned by UN Security Council resolutions.
Kwon Jong Gun said the US move to blame North Korea was a “stupid attempt to justify its arms offer to Ukraine”. Earlier this week, US President Joe Biden pledged 31 Abrams tanks, one of the US military’s most powerful and sophisticated weapons, to help Kiev fight an invasion of Moscow. The US decision drew a rebuke on Friday from Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who said Washington had tried to “cross a further red line” by sending tanks to Ukraine. Kwon Jong also called America’s giving of tanks to Ukraine an immoral crime.
North Korea may have blocked the supply of warheads to Russia’s Wagner, but Russia is one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council. which has long stood firm against increasing pressure on nuclear-armed North Korea. Even calling for relief from international sanctions on humanitarian grounds. However, North Korea is the only country besides Syria and Russia to recognize the independence of Luhansk and Donetsk, two Russian-backed separatist enclaves in eastern Ukraine. In November, the White House said Pyongyang was secretly supplying Russia with significant artillery shells. In response, North Korea said it had never made an arms deal with Russia and had no plans to do so.
