New Delhi: A massive earthquake hit Turkey, Syria, Israel and Lebanon this morning. Due to this earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8, severe damage has been caused in all the four countries. A number of buildings have collapsed. While the rescue operation was being carried out by Sarakar, the tremors of the earthquake were felt for the second time in 12 hours. At around 4 pm, people’s breathing stopped due to a similar shock of the earthquake. Its magnitude has been measured at 7.5 on the Richter scale.
When the earthquake struck at Malsk at 4.17 pm, people were fast asleep, so no one had a chance to escape. More than 1300 people are reported to have died in this earthquake in 4 countries. The number of injured is feared to be more than 5000. According to the information, 2818 buildings collapsed in the earthquake and 2470 people have been rescued from the rubble. There is chaos in all the four countries. Rescue operations are being carried out on war footing.

India will send 2 teams of NDRF to Turkey
PM Modi has expressed grief over the terrible earthquake in Turkey. PM Modi said, ‘I am saddened by the loss of life and property due to the earthquake in Turkey. My condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. India stands in solidarity with Turkey in this hour of crisis. We are ready for all possible help to face this earthquake tragedy.
On the direction of PM Modi, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister PK Mishra called an important meeting on the issue of immediate assistance to Turkey. It was decided in the meeting that NDRF and medical team will be sent to Turkey for search and rescue operations. Along with this relief materials will also be sent to Turkey as soon as possible. NDRF will have 100 jawans in two teams. In which the dog squad has also been included. Apart from this, these teams will also take necessary equipment with them. The medical team will consist of doctors, other staff and essential medicines.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan tweeted that rescue operations are underway in the earthquake-affected areas. At least 6 aftershocks were felt during the earthquake. People were appealed not to enter damaged buildings.

Earthquake tremors were also felt in Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel. There are reports of damage from the Syrian cities of Aleppo and Hama. Many buildings have collapsed in areas bordering Turkey in Syria. In Damascus too, people rushed to the streets after the earthquake. The tremors were felt in Lebanon for about 40 seconds.
