In earlier times, people did not rely on any document but on the promise given. A promise is like a line of stone, no one can break it and if someone breaks the promise, he would become an untrustworthy person among people. This happened in the past but even today many people make promises to each other. However, today there is not as much seriousness in carrying it out as before and the way promises are made word for word, they are broken as well. Some people don’t care much about unfulfilled promises, while some regret the promises they made or couldn’t keep over the years. It seems that even in today’s digital era, people have not stopped trusting words. However, currently Valentine’s week is going on to express the feelings of the youth and today is promise day, so let’s meet some people who have not kept the promise given to them or they themselves could not keep the promise given to someone.
This promise I will never be able to fulfill: Shilpa Gundigara
“When we make a promise, we think it’s easy, we can do it, but when it doesn’t happen, it’s a lifelong struggle.” These are the words of 45-year-old Shilpa Gundigara, who lives in Amroli area of the city. Shilpa says, “Even today we feel sad that the promise I made to my best friend who was my happy companion on my marriage day could not be fulfilled. He asked me for 10 minutes before my departure, we decided that we would laugh and cry a lot in these 10 minutes alone, reminiscing our old sweet and sour memories. However this was not possible in the run up to the wedding which we both will regret forever. He felt very bad that I couldn’t keep my promise that day but our friendship still lasts and whenever we meet he reminds me that I won’t keep this promise but now it will never be possible I feel like I did It would have been better if the promise had not been given at all.
Can’t keep promise to mom: Prestige Vaghela
Pratishtha Vaghela, a 30-year-old doctor and singer living in Adajan area of the city, says, “I promised my mom that I would do regular work out and Riaz every morning, but due to studies and now my duty as a doctor, it was last 4-5 years ago. I cannot keep this promise of mine. Every morning I wake up and face my mom and feel the guilt of not fulfilling the promise. I know mom says it’s for my good and I also like to do Riyaz and work out because being a singer it is necessary to maintain my voice and being a doctor I can give an example of my good health but from a tight schedule. I can’t find time and I do this work in the evening when I get time, so my promise remains incomplete but I will try to fulfill it.
Relationship with a friend soured: Milan Rawal
While living at Katargam, Milan Rawal’s relationship with his old friend deteriorated because he did not keep his promises. 32-year-old Milan Rawal says, “We had a group of friends from school and used to joke around. Once it happened that we were chatting and a friend said to me, “You have to sing and dance in my wedding.” At that time I gave my promise without thinking anything but the truth was that I did not know both of these, so where did I give such a promise? But then I thought I will see but I really regretted my promise when my friend got married and he reminded me of my promise along with the invitation. Although I didn’t take it seriously, he was serious about the promise, so when I didn’t keep the promise, he thought it was wrong and our relationship got strained. After that I didn’t promise anyone.”
Left job without promise: Jackie Patel
Jackie Patel is currently working in a private company but left his first job due to not keeping his promise to the boss. 28-year-old Jackie Patel, living in Pandesara area of the city, says, “I started my job after finishing college. This was my first job and my timing was also 9 am. As we finished college soon, we used to meet friends at night and chat till late, so that we could not get up early in the morning. I used to set 4 alarms every now and then to wake up early but it would be late. Because of this, at home I was reprimanded but at the same time I had to bear the anger of the boss in the office, so I promised the boss that from now on I would come regularly on time, but I could not keep that promise and finally I left the job. Although today I have become conscious about time and have become regular but I regret not being able to keep that promise.
A Promise Remains 21 Years Ago: Richa Shukla
41-year-old Richa Shukla, living in Hazira area of the city, says, “My husband and I work and both of us are very fond of trekking, so when we were newly married, my husband promised to take us trekking, which is still 21 years later. could not be completed. Apart from this, he also promised to take him on the Amarnath Yatra. Which is left. It’s not that we don’t go out, we just go to different places from time to time but don’t know when these promises made by him will be fulfilled. However, when we talk about going for a walk, I always remember this promise, but the talk is avoided by saying that we will go again sometime, and so that I don’t get hurt, now I don’t remind this promise, but I wish that sometimes. This promise is fulfilled. However, I think that promises should be given only if they can fulfill them, whether they are small or big. Because the feelings of the opposite are connected with them. Which hurts his feelings when it is not fulfilled.
People make promises to many people in their life, which are fulfilled sometimes, many promises cannot be fulfilled, some are not fulfilled due to some reason and due to which we are worried, and also with someone due to not keeping the promise. The relationship is also broken forever. However, many people still make promises and trust them. However, the promiser should always remember that it is his responsibility to fulfill it because the trust of the other person rests on his promise.
