New Delhi: Were you infected with Corona? If your answer is yes, a new study may add to your anxiety. Because a study found that even two years after recovering from Covid, the lungs do not fully recover. A report published in the science journal ‘Radiology’ has stated that more than 600 million people worldwide are still suffering from some diseases even after recovering from Covid. Even after recovering from Kovid, some parts of his body, especially the lungs, have been seen to be weak for a long time. The report is by Qing Yi and Heshui Xie of the Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China.
How was this study conducted?
144 patients recovered from Covid were included in this study. There were 79 men and 65 women, with an average age of 60 years. These were patients who recovered from Covid between 15 January and 10 March 2020. These people underwent three CT scans at 6 months, 12 months and two years. A CT scan revealed that two years after recovering from Covid, he still had many problems with his lungs. Several types of problems like fibrosis, thickening, hives, cystic change were seen in his lungs.
What did the study find?
The study found that 54 percent of patients had lung problems after 6 months. At the same time, even after two years, 39 percent of patients’ lungs had not fully recovered. While 61 percent i.e. 88 patients’ lungs are fine. The study reported that patients had prolonged breathing-related problems. However, after 6 months, 30 percent of patients had this problem, while after two years the number of such patients dropped to 22 percent. According to the study, many patients were still having difficulty breathing after two years. It turned out that even after two years, 29 percent of patients complained of pulmonary diffusion. Pulmonary diffusion is how the air sacs in the lungs deliver oxygen.
