New Delhi: Due to the world recession, lay off process is going on in the giant companies. Many big companies including Facebook, Twitter, Amazon have fired employees. Now Google is also included in this list. Once again the company has laid off big companies. Scale and this is done from Indian units. It is being said that Google has laid off 453 of its employees in India.
Employees were notified through mail
According to a report, the removal of these 453 Indian employees (Google Indian employee layoffs) was done on Thursday night and the information has been given by mail. This mail has been sent by Sanjay Gupta, Country Head and Vice President of Google India. The mail also mentions the consent of Indian-origin Sundar Pichai (Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai), CEO of Google’s parent company Alphabet.

According to reports, the decision to lay off Google has been made for several reasons and Sundar Pichai has agreed to take full responsibility for all these decisions. In a note sent by Google CEO Sundar Pichai earlier in the year i.e. in January 2023, he claimed that Google’s laid-off employees outside the US will get support as per local rules. While Google has laid off 453 employees in India, it is not yet clear how many employees will be affected globally or if there will be more layoffs at the tech giant.
12000 layoffs announced
Let us tell you that last month Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc announced that around 12,000 employees will be laid off. These layoffs account for about 6 percent of the company’s total headcount globally. Retrenchments made in India are also included in this figure after the company has started a new round of layoffs in the country.

Amid fears of a global recession, the world’s giants are cutting costs, with tech companies at the forefront. Apart from Google, Amazon has decided to cut 18,000 employees from its work force, while Facebook has already let 11,000 employees out and thousands of employees are still under the sword of layoffs. Other companies involved in the layoff race include Twitter, Alibaba, Walmart and many other names.
