Virat Kohli was asked if he ever feels like he hasn’t won an ICC trophy. Virat Kohli said, ‘You always play to win the tournament, I captained Champions Trophy 2017, World Cup 2019, World Test Championship 2021, T20 World Cup 2022. We reached the final of the Champions Trophy, the semi-final of the World Cup and the final of the World Test Championship, but even then I was called a failed captain.

Kohli said that I was in the 2011 World Cup too, I was in the final and I won the first final. I’m not crazy about having my cabinet full of trophies. Let us tell you that under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, Team India became number-1 in Tests, but Team India could not win any ICC trophy during his tenure.
Virat Kohli also revealed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni chose him for the captaincy. I used to give inputs while fielding, I was also playing match winning innings at that time and because of these inputs MS Dhoni came to know about my seriousness towards cricket. During this time he chose me as his successor, even when I later became captain, our relationship remained the same and there was mutual respect.
