Surat: For the mill owners of Surat, the days have come when the Haiya Holi is lit before Holi. Even before the Ramzan Eid season in the cloth market, the price of coal (Coal) has been increased by the syndicate of private players and the mill owners have increased the prices. The market registered mild demand as orders for dress material, dupattas, abayas and sarees for Ramadan Eid festivals started coming in from Gujarat’s neighboring states and North India’s Bihar, UP, Jharkhand, Delhi, Kolkata, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh. At a time when the businessmen placed orders for job work in the mills, a syndicate of major coal suppliers in Surat has increased the price of industrial coal by Rs 2000 in the last 12 days after receiving information that the stock of a large corporate company importing imported coal has run out.
Jitendra Vakharia, president of South Gujarat Textile Processors Association, said that usually the prices of crude and lignite increase in winter. This time surprisingly the prices have increased even in summer. Coal prices have gone up by Rs 2,000 per tonne in just 12 days after messages circulated that a major company was running out of stock. Due to which the production cost of the mills will increase by 25%. These prices have increased at a time when the festive season is ahead. Dollar effect is also important in it. The association has earlier demanded the government to control the price of lignite and reduce the price according to market conditions. Officials of the government-owned GMDC have appealed to reduce prices by increasing production of lignite. The rate of lignite has increased steadily and nearly doubled. Recently there was a break in the steady decline in coal prices as international demand fell, but prices have since recovered. is Jitu Vakharia further said that after the festival of Holi-Dhuleti mill owners will review the prices and take a decision according to the market conditions.
