Mumbai: In a Women’s Premier League (WPL) match played here today, Delhi Capitals (DC) scored 211 for 4 in 20 overs with the help of captain Meg Lanning’s aggressive innings of 70 runs and a 67-run fifth-wicket partnership between Jess Jonasson and Jemima Rodrigues. Against a target of 212 runs, UP Warriors only reached 169 runs despite an aggressive innings by Tahlia McGrath, Delhi Capitals won the match by 42 runs and secured their second consecutive victory.

After that, Tahlia McGrath single-handedly tried to lead the team to victory, but in the end, UP Warriors reached 169 for 5 in 20 overs. Tahlia was not out by scoring 90 runs in 50 balls. Earlier, after losing the toss, Delhi Capitals got off to bat first and the pair of Lanning and Shefali Verma got off to an aggressive start and scored 62 runs without a wicket in the powerplay. Even after Shefali’s dismissal, Lanning continued to bat aggressively and completed his half-century in 32 balls. The score of the team was 120 runs for 3 wickets in 12 overs when Lanning got out after scoring 70 runs in 42 balls with the help of 10 fours and 3 sixes. However, Jemima and Jess put on a not out partnership of 67 runs in the final 5.4 overs to take the score to 211 for 4. Jess scored 42 runs off 20 balls and Jemima remained not out on 32 runs off 22 balls.
