New Delhi: The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023) is now just a few days away. The first match of this season will be played between the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 31. Amidst the preparations of the teams, Star Sports has also announced its Commentary Panel. This also includes the name of S Sreesanth, the former fast bowler of Team India. In the IPL itself, Sreesanth faced a ban along with slapping. He is returning to the league after 10 years in a different role.
It has been a year since S Sreesanth called a halt to his cricket career. The former Indian bowler, who was embroiled in a spot-fixing controversy during IPL 2013 and subsequently suspended from the tournament, is returning to the tournament after 10 years. However, this time he will not be seen playing in the pink and blue T-shirt. But now he will be seen in a different role. He will be holding the mic and will be seen doing the commentary.
The tournament management of IPL 2023 has recently released the list of expert panel which includes Sreesanth’s name. Star Sports which is the official broadcaster of the tournament has posted a video of the experts who will take the mic this time. The video features Jacques Kallis, Aaron Finch, Kevin Pietersen, Tom Moody, Irfan Pathan, S Sreesanth, Irfan Pathan, Paul Collingwood, Harbhajan Singh, Murali Vijay, Mohammad Kaif and Yusuf Pathan.
Sreesanth may have been off the cricket field for some time now, but off the field Sreesanth has made his presence felt in many fields. The former cricketer has recently been a part of several reality shows and has also played cameo roles in a few films. A return to the IPL was on the cards as he had already said goodbye to his international career.
IPL 2023
The upcoming IPL will be the 16th season of the prestigious tournament. Like last season 10 teams will be part of this cricket mayhem. Mumbai Indians, the tournament’s most successful franchise, will be back to target a sixth podium finish. 4-time champions CSK will be motivated to return to trophy-winning ways. But, again all eyes will be on RCB, DC and PBKS as any of them can end their long quest for the trophy. IPL 2023 will start from March 31.
