ISRO: The Indian Space Agency has achieved a major achievement. 36 satellites of British company Low-Earth Orbit Satellite Communications Company OneWeb were successfully launched on Sunday in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The launch of such a large number and weight of satellites is a record in itself. The satellites were launched on March 26 at 9 am from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Notably, weighing 643 tonnes and 43.5 meters long, the launch vehicle is ISRO’s heaviest launch vehicle that has completed five successful flights so far, including the Chandrayaan-2 mission. The weight of these 36 satellites is 5805 tons.

ISRO said that the current mission LVM3-M3 is the second dedicated commercial satellite mission of NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) being carried out for its client British company M/s Network Access Associates Limited (M/s OneWeb). LVM-3 is the new name of ISRO’s heaviest launch vehicle GSLVMK-3 capable of launching the heaviest satellites into fixed orbit.
OneWeb has signed an agreement with ISRO to launch 36 satellites into low Earth orbit on March 26. Last year also, ISRO installed 36 satellites of the company. Contracts have been signed to launch a total of 72 satellites. This is Isro’s biggest order. For this, a total launch fee of more than one thousand crore rupees is being charged.
