New Delhi: An Indian traveling from New York to Delhi on an American Airlines flight has been arrested for allegedly urinating on his co-passenger at the airport here. Official sources said on Monday. Sources said the accused Indian passenger was told by airline staff that he was drunk and had urinated on his co-passenger during an argument. The incident took place on American Airlines flight AA 292 and the alleged unruly passenger was arrested by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) after the plane landed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport around 9 pm on Sunday. Earlier on March 3, a drunk Indian student urinated on an American passenger on this plane.
The aggrieved passenger has lodged a formal complaint with the airline. The sources said. The carrier reported the matter to the Delhi airport before landing and both the passengers involved were later handed over to the Delhi Police. A senior police officer said legal action has been taken in this case under non-cognizable offence. The police initiated the action following a complaint lodged by the airline staff about the rude behavior of the passenger. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Airport) Devesh Kumar Mahala said, “There is no evidence or complaint given by co-passengers that someone urinated on them.”
In the recent past there have been several incidents of passengers allegedly urinating on co-passengers after consuming alcohol. On November 26 last year, a drunk man allegedly urinated on his female co-passenger in the business class of an Air India New York-Delhi flight. The case came to light in January and the Delhi Police arrested the man a few days later. Air India imposed a 30-day travel ban on him. Another such incident was reported on the morning of an Air India Paris-New Delhi flight on December 6, 2022 when a passenger allegedly urinated on an empty seat and the blanket of a fellow female passenger when she went to the toilet.
