Violence erupted in France after the death of minor Nahel on June 27. Nahel was shot dead by the police while being checked by the traffic police in Paris. The policemen said that the boy did not have a driving license. During the checking, the boy tried to run over the traffic police with the vehicle. The police shot the boy in defense which hit him. In the wake of the violence, French police have arrested more than 1,300 people.
Nahel’s mother expressed grief and displeasure over his death. Accusing the person who took her son’s life, Nahel’s mother said that in this case I am blaming only one person, who took my son’s life. French President Macro was to visit Germany. But he canceled his trip to Germany due to violence in the country. Emmanuel Macron deployed armored vehicles with more than 45,000 police officers overnight in response to the riots spreading across the country.
Nahel had no criminal record
The lawyer for the victim’s family says that Nahel was working as a delivery man. He was a boy who was interested in sports. He worked to make the youth of his area aware of sports. Nahel had no criminal record. However, the police charged Nahel with careless driving.
