Morocco: Morocco has built the world’s largest solar farm. In future it will generate electricity only through renewable energy. Along with this, it will stop using petrol, diesel and coal based energy. This solar power plant will provide electricity even when there is no sunlight. Morocco wants to become the biggest power in the world in terms of energy production. Morocco wants to make a name for itself in the world for renewable energy. This solar farm is considered essential for the world. The project is completely ready. This farm will generate 35 percent of Morocco’s renewable energy needs.
This plant has been built on 3000 acres of land in the Sahara desert. The size of this power plant is equal to 3500 football fields. 580 MW electricity will be available from this entire project. The name of the project is The Noor-Orzazet Complex. According to the World Bank, Morocco produces 97 percent of its energy from coal, gasoline and diesel purchased from other countries.
Fossil fuels are running out all over the world. In such a situation, renewable energy is urgently needed. This project will avoid shortage of coal, petrol and diesel in future. That is why this project is very important for Morocco. The Moroccan government intends to generate 42 percent of its energy needs from this project. More than 7.60 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide gas emissions will be saved through 580 MW of electricity. That means it will be a big step to make the earth pollution free.
Morocco will also depend on other countries for its 2.5 million tonnes of oil. This plant is different from the old solar panels. It will transfer power directly to the electricity grid. Solar panels collect sunlight in one place. This heats the liquid salt filled in the pipe below the panel.
This liquid salt turns into steam and goes to the turbine. The pressure of the steam drives a turbine, which generates electricity. The presence of hot salt continues to generate electricity even after sunset
