All Keir, no idea
THE Government’s declared aim of stopping the boats looks as difficult as ever.
Yesterday the number of migrants who have crossed illegally this year passed 15,000.

It will be some comfort to the Prime Minister and his Home Secretary that this figure is 15 per cent down on the same time last year.
But every Channel-crosser adds to the headache of where to house them.
At the current rate, Labour claims it will take until 2036 to clear the current backlog of failed asylum-seekers.
More than 40,000 are still awaiting removal and holed up in hotels at vast expense.
Meanwhile, schemes to use former military bases and barges remain mired in red-tape and legal wrangling.
Labour screams about Tory failure.
Yet the party led by Sir Keir Starmer — who has voted more than 70 times against the Government on migration — now admits it would also keep using those barges and camps.
Labour has still to provide a proper vision of how to tackle the crisis, beyond trotting out only that “safe and legal routes” should be provided.
How many asylum-seekers would come to Britain each year under that plan?
Would everyone who makes a claim be accepted or would there be a cap?
And if there is to be a limit, won’t that simply mean migrants who don’t qualify will still turn to the evil people-smuggling gangs?
Over to you, Sir Keir.
Vlad bloodlust
THERE is no depth to which Vladimir Putin’s ruthless forces won’t sink.
Ukrainian children’s hospitals strafed with rockets, nuclear power plants recklessly bombed.
Now even a critical blood transfusion centre has been viciously targeted.
It is nothing less than an abominable war crime.
Ukraine’s use of sea drones is punishing Russia.
And as The Sun reports today, its brave forces are successfully taking the fight to Putin on multiple fronts — with help from Brit volunteers.
But the Ukrainian counter-offensive overall has been slowed.
And Putin shows no sign of ending the evil.
We are all in this for the long haul.
Fawlty Towels
THE Germans have got some nerve blaming Brits for the sunbed wars in the Med.
For decades, ruthless Teutonic holidaymaker efficiency has infamously seen all the sun loungers taken by 6am.
Now that the Brits have got themselves organised and are finally fighting back, Germany’s best-selling paper Bild has the brass neck to moan about us.
To quote the great Basil Fawlty: “You started it!”
