BYD, the world’s leading new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, has sponsored a group of over 100 young Chinese players for a study tour to the men’s 2024 European Football Championship in Germany, which began on June 14 and runs until July 14 across ten host cities, according to a news report from China News Service (CNS).
The teenagers participated in the opening ceremony of the UEFA EURO 2024, as well as three friendly matches against youth teams of TSV 1860 Munich, TSV 1860 Rosenheim, and FC Augsburg.
“I love playing football, and it makes me happy. I have always wanted to become a professional player,” thirteen-year-old Luo Zihan , a member of the Yuanbao Primary School football team in Dafang County, Bijie City of southwest China’s Guizhou Province, said in an interview with CNS.
In China, many children share the same aspirations as Luo. Football has become their gateway to a bigger world.
The experience of visiting EURO 2024 has become unforgettable for these teenage players, which is the exact reason why BYD sponsored this Dream Tour. The objective is to provide young Chinese players with opportunities to play at a bigger stage in the football world.
Since its entry into the European passenger vehicle market in 2022, BYD has significantly expanded its presence by establishing a network of 230 stores in 19 European countries and launching five innovative NEVs.
For the first time in its 70-year history, the Union of European Football Associations, more commonly known as UEFA, has entered a partnership with a new energy vehicle manufacturer.
