New Delhi: Micro-blocking site Twitter has received a major blow. Ever since Elon Musk took the reins of Twitter in his hands, Twitter has been in the news for one reason or another. Twitter has been making frequent changes to its blocking site. Now it is in discussion due to the fact that it has started subscription plan of Blue Tick brand. On the other hand, the judge of the Colorado District Court of America has ordered Twitter to vacate its office.
A Colorado District Court judge has ordered the vacation of Twitter’s Boulder office for non-payment of rent. A letter of credit for $968,000 was issued in February 2020 to the owner of the office where Twitter’s office is located. The micro-blogging platform hasn’t paid rent since March, which amounts to $27,000 a month. In May, the landlord knocked on the court’s door. According to the documents, a judge has ordered the Boulder sheriff to return possession of the Twitter office to the landlord. Twitter has been ordered to vacate the office within 49 days. Before the massive layoffs, Twitter’s Boulder office had at least 300 employees.
The National Music Public Association filed suit on Twitter
Some time back Elon Musk has given Twitter Blue users the facility to upload up to 2 hours of content on the platform. After this feature, the National Music Public Association has filed a case on Twitter regarding this and has demanded over Rs 1 crore per song as compensation.
Music publishers claim that Twitter is promoting its business with numerous infringing copies of music composers and unfairly violating the special rights of publishers and others under copyright law. The NMPA, in its filed suit, has shared a list of nearly 1,700 songs that have been uploaded to Twitter without permission. A lawsuit has been filed by 17 music publishers in federal court in the state of Tennessee.
