Pakistan: The situation is becoming very serious due to flood in Sindh and Balochistan of Pakistan. It has been decided to deploy the army to help in relief and rescue operations in many states of the country, which are battling the worst floods of a decade. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Saturday that the army has been ordered to help the affected areas. 3.30 crore people have been affected due to floods.
So far 982 people have died due to floods in Pakistan. According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), 45 people have died in the last 24 hours. 113 people have been injured in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of injured has increased to 1,456.
Sindh and Balochistan have been badly affected by the floods. A massive flood has caused havoc here. Pakistan Railways has canceled trains in many areas of Sindh and Balochistan. Pakistan International Airlines suspended flights to Balochistan’s capital Quetta on Friday due to bad weather.
Home Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the army has been called to save people from the severe floods. Currently, emergency has been imposed in Pakistan so that the army can help the local people at such a time. The infrastructure of the country has been badly affected due to floods. The NDMA reported that over 3,161 km of roads were damaged in the floods and 149 bridges were washed away, while 682,139 houses were completely or partially damaged in the floods. More than half of the country has been submerged in floods caused by unprecedented rains in Pakistan. More than 57 lakh people in 110 districts are forced to live without food and shelter.
More than 192 percent of rainfall
NDMA data shows that during the last 30 years, the average monsoon rainfall in Pakistan was 132.3 mm, while this year since June 14, it has recorded 385.4 mm. That’s about 192 percent more than the last three decades. Sherry Rehman, Pakistan’s Environment Minister, said that the country usually receives heavy rains three to four times a year. However, it has rained eight times so far this year and more rain is likely. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday briefed a group of ambassadors, high commissioners and other senior members of the Islamabad-based diplomatic corps about the flood situation in the country.
