Surat: The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized an interactive meeting on ‘Economic Offenses’ between the Police Department and businessmen of South Gujarat including Surat. Addressing as the chief guest, City Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Tomar said that traders in Surat very easily give goods to traders from other states. Criminals who are well aware of this matter are cheating with the merchants of Surat. Mainly cheating, fraud and treachery are three types of economic offenses found in Surat. He appealed to industrialists and traders to use Police’s Textile Security Setu app.
Criminals plan to cheat from the start of the business. On the other hand, after gaining the trust of the merchant and buying goods on credit from him, the criminal commits treachery. Police is ready to file a complaint in these three cases, but care needs to be taken regarding trust in business. Whether the payment will come or not needs to be considered beforehand. Chamber Vice President Ramesh Vaghasia, Secretary Bhavesh Taylor, Shailesh Desai, Deepak Shethwala, former Presidents Bharat Gandhi, BS Agrawal, Ashok Shah were present in this meeting.
Both the police and businessmen have to work together to stop financial crime
Ajay Tomar further said that both the police and businessmen have to work together to stop financial crimes. For that he asked the traders to use the Textile Security Setu app. On the other hand, in transactions worth lakhs of rupees, traders apply to the police to withdraw the money and then the police officers are trying to stop the mischief that takes place. He also asked traders to be vigilant to prevent land-grabbing crimes. If you get something for free, you are a product for it. So social media should be used carefully. This is no one else’s police but yours. So you can contact the police officers without fear. All the industrial organizations under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce should launch a campaign for the awareness of the app with a view to enable the traders to make maximum use of the Textile Security Setu app.
Some traders fall prey to fraud in the lure of percentage: Additional Commissioner of Police
Surat Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic and Crime) Sharad Singhal said, Textile Security Setu application has been created by Surat City Police to help textile traders. He gave detailed information about Textile Security Bridge along with the presentation. He appealed to industrialists and traders to use Police’s Textile Security Setu app. So that the traders can be saved from the criminals who cheat. Sometimes traders get lured by percentages in business and fall prey to fraudsters.
Businesses should be vigilant to curb economic crime
Chamber of Commerce President Himanshu Bodawala said, the development of any city depends on its industrial peace. Industries flourish only in areas where law and order issues are minimal. Industrial peace in Surat is at its peak but it is because of the police’s control over crime. So how can financial crime be controlled and what should the businessmen involved in the industry do? We will try to move forward in the direction of how to make Surat more safe and secure by getting information from its police department.
