Surat: Under the series of exhibitions organized by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCC) and the Southern Gujarat Chamber Trade and Industries Development Center on the next date. The first ‘Indian Textile Trade Fair’ has been organized from 11 to 14 January 2023 at the International Convention City, Vasundhara, Dhaka, Bangladesh. All exhibitions were held at Surat, but last year for the first time exhibitions were held at Dubai and USA with the aim of providing a global platform to the textile industry of South Gujarat including Surat.
In which textile industrialists of Surat had direct contact with traders from Dubai and USA. Hence, the Chamber decided to organize an exhibition for the entire chain of the textile industry in Bangladesh this year as well.
The target is to take the export up to 40 billion
The readymade garment industry has grown tremendously in Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s current export is worth 12 billion dollars. The government there has aimed to take this export up to 40 billion. Bangladesh has the largest number of green garment factories in the world. Bangladesh is a global hub for garment manufacturing and sourcing. The RMG industry in Bangladesh is a world leader in the production of sustainable textiles.
Woven garments like knitwear and sweaters are exported
Apart from this there are more than 4000 thousand factories in Bangladesh. From where sarees, dress materials, salwar suits, bridal wear, designer wear, gowns and kurtis, Indo-western wear and casual wear like shirts, trousers, t-shirts, denim, jackets and woven wear like knitwear and sweaters are exported. Yarn, Synthetic Yarn, Man Made Yarn, Man Made Fabrics, Synthetic Fabrics, Natural & Blended Fibers, Fine Yarn Dyed Shirting, Wool, Polyester-Wool and Polyester Viscose Suiting, Pure & Blended Linen by textile industry from all over South Gujarat including Surat in this exhibition. , Fine High & Silks, Fashion Dress Materials, Denim, Cotton Twills & Drills, Garments, Ethnic & Sports Wear, Narrow Fabrics, Accessories etc. will be showcased.
Accessories trade has good potential in Bangladesh: Chamber President
Chamber President Himanshu Bodawala said that currently there is no direct export with Bangladesh. Bangladesh has a huge market for yarns, fabrics, garments and accessories made in Surat by crossing the border from Kolkata. Where the traders of Surat will be able to sell their products easily. About 110 textile industrialists from South Gujarat will participate and present their products in this exhibition.
