Turkey: There is news of a blast in a coal mine in northern Turkey on Friday. The explosion was so severe that at least 25 people died. Dozens of miners were trapped after the explosion. At least 25 people have been killed in an explosion at a coal mine in northern Turkey, Turkey’s health minister said. He said rescue teams were trying to bring dozens of other people trapped in the mine to the surface. Energy Minister Fatih Donmez said preliminary investigations indicated that the blast was caused by a fireamp. Regarding the incident, Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu said that there were 110 people in the mine at the time of the explosion. He went to Amasra to coordinate rescue operations.
The minister said that most of the workers managed to escape after the blast, but 49 people were trapped in the high-risk area. He said it was not known how many people were still trapped in the mine. But many of the 49 people have been rescued. Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on Twitter that 22 people were killed in the explosion. At the same time, Turkey’s disaster management agency AFAD said eight people were in critical condition.
President Erdogan will arrive at the scene
Regarding this incident, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will cancel all his programs and reach the incident site. Erdogan said in a tweet that it is hoped that the loss of life and property will not increase, the workers trapped in the mine will be rescued alive.

The Bartin governor’s office said the blast took place at 6.45 pm on Friday. The blast took place at the state-run TTK Amasara Muse Mudurlugu mine in the town of Amasara in the Black Sea coastal province of Bartin. It happened 300 meters below the entrance of the mine. Of these, 44 people were trapped 300 meters below the mine entrance while 5 people were trapped about 350 meters below. Energy Minister Fatih Donmez said preliminary investigations indicated the explosion was likely caused by flammable gases (firemps) from coal mines.
