Indonesia: Mount Semeru, the highest volcano in Indonesia, suddenly erupted on Sunday, December 4, 2022. Hot ash and gases erupted from the top of the 12,000-foot-high mountain with burning lava that reached the fields of villages in the valley. Rivers of lava flowed. Mount Semeru volcano was slowly burning relief for several days. On the other hand, its lava dome collapsed due to unseasonal rains and rivers of hot ash, gas and lava flowed rapidly for many kilometers.
Mount Semeru volcano eruption affected several villages
The news of the volcano blast came on Sunday. Regarding this incident, the spokesman of the National Disaster Management Agency of Indonesia said that due to the sudden eruption of Mount Semeru, several villages around the volcano have been covered in ash. The sky has turned black due to smoke and ash. People have to keep the lights on even during the day. People have been shifted to safe place. Even now relief and rescue work is going on.
10,000 people have been evacuated to safer places
Mount Semeru is located 800 km southeast of the capital Jakarta in Java. There are many active volcanoes in Java.. but Mount Semeru is the most dangerous and the tallest volcano. There are a total of 121 active volcanoes in Indonesia alone. Mount Semeru also erupted last year. Then 51 people were killed due to its lava, hot gas and ash being buried in Malba. Currently 10,000 people had to be moved to safer places.
Local people were shifted to a school 20 km away
This eruption of the volcano is believed to be extremely powerful. Along with the ash and hot gas released due to the explosion, rivers of lava flowed down the mountain for 8 kilometers. Due to the lava eruption, the victims and local people have been accommodated in a school located 20 kilometers away. Where food, water and medicines etc. are provided by the government. Currently there are about 3 thousand houses in the danger zone of the volcano. All the people living here have been shifted to a safe place.
