BJP ruling in Gujarat for the last 27 years has once again created a new history in Gujarat. The results of the 2022 assembly elections were declared on Thursday and the BJP won or led in a record 156 seats. Since its inception in Gujarat, the Congress had won the highest number of seats in 1985 with 149 seats. At this time, the Congress benefited greatly from the wave of sympathy due to the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. At that time Congress got 55.55 percent votes. This time in 2022, BJP has not got so many percentage of votes but BJP has broken all the records by getting 52.5% votes. The BJP has not only won the most number of seats but also broken the record of longest tenure of the communist government in West Bengal.
The Communist Party ruled in West Bengal for 27 years but now BJP’s rule in Gujarat will last for 32 years continuously and create a new record. Thus, since the election started, it was believed that BJP will form the government this time too. All the exit polls were showing the BJP government. Reasons were also put forward that this would be due to three-way warfare, but the results that came out forced the old mathematics to be thrown aside and many new equations to be considered. This time though it was a three-pronged war but even more so this time it was as if the voters were rushing to vote for the BJP. This time the polling was also less but the polling that was less made the Congress go away. BJP’s voter turnout has not gone down and all BJP candidates have got more leads than in the past. BJP has also won seats which were low margin seats.
It was believed that AAP would cut the votes of Congress but in many seats it has happened that AAP has come second and Congress has to settle for third place. Not only this, Congress candidates have also lost their deposits in many seats. BJP got 99 seats in the last election and this time it has directly won 57 seats after reaching 156 seats. When the Congress is stuck on 16 seats, the Congress has suffered a tragic loss. AAP created a lot of buzz in this election but your candidates could not convert it into votes.
So far all the big heads of AAP which included leaders starting from Gopal Italia to Ishudan Gadhvi, all those leaders have lost. None of you could have predicted that the candidates who have won will win. This time, many issues ranging from inflation to the Morbi Bridge tragedy and the harassment caused by Corona were presented in the election, but the voters have put their trust on the BJP. Voters felt that if the Congress MLAs were to merge with the BJP after being elected, it was better to elect BJP candidates.
Modi’s magic has worked again in this election. Despite being the Prime Minister himself, Narendra Modi addressed more than 30 election rallies in Gujarat. Along with this, the hard work of the state president CR Patil has also paid off. Ever since CR Patil became the state president, he had started working towards this election. From the booth committee to the page president had already been decided and they were also asked to vote in favor of the BJP.
CR Patil rarely addressed the meetings but wherever the organization faltered, CR Patil himself rushed to convince the leaders. This time BJP also cut the tickets of many seniors. Due to which there was a feeling of resentment but CR Patil convinced the leaders he believed in and dropped those who did not believe him and took the work of the party forward. Apart from this, BJP reduced the anger of the voters during the time of Corona by replacing the government which was there during the time of Corona. The tuning between CR Patil and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was good. The organization and the government moved in the same direction and the total was a record sitting form.
AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal announced freebies but the voters of Gujarat did not accept these freebies. AAP was not that strong in Gujarat and its aim was only to cause political sabotage in Gujarat. There was nothing to lose in this election. For him, Vakaro was only profit. The way AAP got around 13 percent votes in this election has helped make AAP a national party. On the other hand, this election has been very disappointing for Congress. Congress has never had such a bad and tragic failure till date. Congress got around 41 percent votes in the last elections.
This time it has come down to around 27 percent. On the other hand, you have got around 13 percent votes. Considering this, if the votes of Congress and AAP are combined, it is the same as the votes of Congress last time, but the way BJP increased its votes by 3 percent, it made a big difference in the results. Congress was scattered in this election. All the big Congress leaders kept themselves busy in contesting elections. So much so that the leaders of the Congress region did not pay attention to other seats. Among those who took Congress tickets, there were many candidates who took tickets only to collect money for contesting elections. Others pocketed the money of the Congress but also set up with the BJP, increasing the lead of the BJP candidates. Congress now has to put the old leaders at home and prepare the new generation.
This time the election of the Gujarat Assembly was like ‘neither ghost nor fortune’ for the BJP. When the task is done. In this election, BJP and Dae have won. Only the Congress has lost. Congress needs to assume a new body and not just mind-brainstorming or self-brainstorming. If the Congress does not do that, it is certain whether the country will be Congress-free but a Congress-free Gujarat will become necessary.
