New Delhi: Today is a very special day for people interested in the world of Astrophysics and planets and constellations. Today i.e. Saturday, January 21, 2023, a supermoon will be seen which will be very close to the Earth, but despite being close to the Earth, we will not be able to see it. Today is going to happen for the first time in thousands of years when the Moon will be closest to Earth. If we talk about the exact distance, it would be a total of 356,568 kilometers from Earth. However, you won’t be able to see the moon because today is Amavasya, that is, today the moon will be in the first phase of its cycle, that is, today will be the night of Amavasya. In such a situation, the illuminated part of the Moon would be on the other side of the Earth. So we will not be able to see the moon.
Moon will come this close after 992 years
According to a report, the new moon on January 21, 2023 will be as close to Earth as it has ever been in 992 years. That is, the last time the moon was seen this close was during the Middle Ages or Dark Ages of the 11th century. Then when the Norman Conquest took place in Britain and the Vikings were just beginning to settle in North America. And then about today both the Moon and the Earth will be this close. This will be the first generation since the Middle Ages and Dark Ages to see the magnificent moon so closely. Next such event will be seen after 345 years. At the same time, according to the new moon, the moon will be this close to Earth for the first time in 1337 years.
Supermoon in China will be more special
This supermoon will be very special in China as it marks the beginning of the Chinese lunar year. 2023 is called The Year of Rabbit in the Chinese calendar. Along with this, there will also be a special connection between the planets Venus and Saturn. Conjunction means when two planets come together in an alignment. This conjunction can be seen in the southwest sky in the evening after sunset on January 22.
There will be 4 supermoons this year
According to information, retired NASA astrophysicist Fred Espnak has said that we will see a total of four supermoons this year. Different parts of the country will witness one super moon in July, two in August and one in September.
