Every year a large number of Indian students go to study in the UK. India is leading in the number of foreign students coming to study in this European country. But now the problem of Indian students can increase. British Home Minister Suella Braverman is considering a plan to reduce the period of stay of foreign students under student visa (post-study visa route) after studying in Britain. Under the scheme, students must obtain a work visa after securing a skilled job or leave the UK after six months.
A major disadvantage of Indians pursuing higher education in the UK is that they have a two-year window to find a job after obtaining their degree. During this period, students get jobs and settle in the UK. But now the UK is going to take a big decision on study visas, which will affect Indian students the most. Britain’s Home Secretary Suella Braverman is considering plans to reduce the length of stay of foreign students under student visas (the post-study visa route) after studying in Britain. New graduate visa routes are likely to be cut under Braverman’s proposed review. However, Britain’s Department for Education (DFE) is trying to block these changes because they are concerned that this could reduce the attractiveness of international students to study in Britain.
