New Delhi: Electric two wheeler manufacturer Ola (OLA) has recently entered the electric market. In a very short span of time the company has captured the leading position in the market with its awesome range of scooters. OLA Electric has become the largest selling electric scooter brand in the country. But at the same time, even after making a splash in the market, the brand has been in the headlines several times, sometimes due to fire incidents and sometimes questions have been raised on social media about the quality of the scooter. Now the discussion of scooter battery (Battery) has gained momentum.
Social networking site Twitter is being sued over the price of OLA’s electric scooter batteries. It is said that the cost of the battery is more than half of the cost of the scooter. That’s not surprising, though, since typically 40% to 50% of the total cost of electric vehicles is spent on the battery alone.
What is the battery cost of OLA Electric?
Sharing a picture of OLA’s battery pack, a user on Twitter said about the price of the battery, according to this post, the price of the battery pack of OLA S1 is Rs 66,549 and the battery of S1 is priced at Rs. 87,298 is stated. In the image shared in this post, it can be seen that the package shown has a portion written on it, so it is possible that it is only the cost of one battery, but it could include the entire package. Apart from this, the MRP price is given in the package which is seen here in the image.
The user also wrote, “If you want to beat ICE vehicles in all aspects, we expect Ola Electric to offer better pricing and lower battery costs after five years.” Talking about Ola’s electric scooter range, the S1 Air is priced at Rs 84,999, the S1 is priced at Rs 99,999 and the S1 Pro is priced at Rs 1,27,999.
Customers can book these scooters through the company’s official website for just Rs 999. However, it is important to note here that, currently, OLA Electric has not shared any information regarding the cost of batteries used in electric scooters. OLA offers a standard warranty of 3 years with its scooters. Apart from this, customers can also avail the extended warranty plan of the company. The company says that with the extended warranty, you don’t have to worry about the installation of components including the scoot and battery for the next 5 years. Rs. Along with a damage cover of up to 1.2 lakh, you can get an extended warranty, which is available as a separate plan.
OLA Electric Extended Warranty Plan
Ola Electric is offering two different types of extended warranty plans for 5 years. In this, under the battery only plan, you will have to spend Rs 6,999 for the S1 Pro and Rs 6,499 for the S1. This only covers the battery. A comprehensive plan covering battery repair/replacement and other components of the scooter, the S1 Pro will cost you Rs. 8,999 and the S1 for Rs. 8,499 will cost.
