Washington: The US Department of Transportation is preparing to ban Chinese airlines. In addition, the Biden administration may also ban the use of Russian airspace to transport passengers to the United States. Three officials of President Biden’s administration have given this information. The order was given to the national security team and others last Monday, the New York Times reported. The order required Chinese companies to comply with similar restrictions faced by US airline companies. According to the Airlines for America industry trade group, the US government’s decision is the result of lobbying by US airlines. According to a trade group, American airlines are losing up to $2 billion in annual market share to foreign companies. Because companies from other countries are no longer restricted to Russian territory. The group has requested that the Biden administration take steps to ensure that international carriers transiting through Russia do not land at US airports. Companies such as China Eastern, Emirates and Air India are unscathed following the Ukraine war, and airline revenues have increased. This is because they can go into Russian territory and take a shortcut. American Airlines planes have to carry more circuits to inspect the no-zone. Whereas, these aircraft have to land at many places for refueling and operate long-haul flights with dozens of empty seats. According to Russia Today, US airlines are trying to convince travelers who object to spending more money that flying over Russia is actually dangerous.
