Mohamed Gento Kamara is a Sierra Leonean British citizen, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He is the founder and owner the multi million-dollar road construction firm, the Gento Group of Companies.
Through his corporate conglomerate, he has so far paved new economic opportunities for citizens and communities in Sierra Leone and the ECOWAS subregion.
Mohamed has empowered over 3000 youths and women in skilled and unskilled entrepreneurial endeavors. He is a seasoned philanthropist, providing regular support and sponsorship to over 1000 foundations and non-governmental initiatives.
In 2022, Gento was officially handed a license for the iconic Seaport facility. This port will support industries and increase national competitiveness. Also,
Gento aims to facilitate the movement of people, creating infrastructural development, supporting over 10,000 direct and indirect job creations, attracting investment, and lowering costs for producers and consumers.
Gento, who was keynote speaker at the Global Influence Conference of Wintrade Global Summit, held March 13-15, 2023 at the London Stock Exchange was awarded for his “Excellence in Economics” by the prestigious body.
The organisers of the three-day event, during the awards ceremony, which awarded other achievers, stated that Gento was recognized for his contributions to women’s empowerment, employment, and micro-credit programs.
The Awards also recognized his achievements in driving growth, development, paving new economic opportunities for citizens and communities and inspiring the new generations of brokers who are shaping Africa’s economic future.
It should be recalled that the former President Ahmed Tejan Kabbah of Sierra Leone urged Mohamed to return to his home country to help revive the economy and mentor young Sierra Leoneans who had lost hope.
Gento has also been involved in supporting a diverse range of health issues including anti-malnutrition initiatives campaigns, and more recently, COVID-19.
