Washington: Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is on a US tour to attend the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group. Here Nirmala Sitharaman has made a big statement on the status of Muslims and minorities in India-Pakistan. Sitharaman has said that the condition of Muslims and minorities in India is much better than in Pakistan. He also criticized the impression created for India in Western countries. While discussing the Indian economy and development at the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman aptly responded to the Western perception of India. Responding to PIIE president Adam S Posen on perceptions affecting investment or capital in India, he said, I think the answer is investors coming to India. All I would say is look at what is happening in India, don’t listen to people who have no idea about the reality and yet make wild statements about India. Nirmala Sitharaman said that India has the second largest Muslim population in the world and this population is continuously increasing. Targeting Pakistan, he said that minorities are not safe in Pakistan. Every minority is declining in Pakistan. He raised the question whether the Muslim population in Pakistan is increasing compared to 1947? Nirmala Sitharaman said that some Muslim sects of Pakistan have also been removed from there. Whereas, in India every Muslim does his own business, his children are given education, fellowship is given.
