Islamabad: (Islamabaad) Pakistan’s (Pakistan) Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has finally announced a visit to India amidst the chaos of Kashmir. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has released a statement saying that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will participate in the meeting of foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to be held in Goa next month. This is the first visit of Pakistan’s foreign minister in a decade.
A Pakistani leader is visiting India for the first time since the surgical strike. Pakistan on Thursday announced that Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in India next month. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Mumtaz Zehra Baloch made this announcement in a press conference. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will lead Pakistan’s delegation to the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting to be held on 4-5 May 2023 in Goa, India. Baloch’s announcement ended weeks of speculation about whether Bhutto would attend the conference in Goa in person.
Let it be known that earlier Pakistan and Bilawal Bhutto insisted on restoration of Article 370 in Kashmir. But eventually both had to bow out. Relations between India and Pakistan were strained after the Pulwama terror attack in February 2019 when Indian warplanes destroyed a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist training camp in Balakot, Pakistan. In August 2019, India withdrew the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into two Union Territories. Since then, the relationship between the two countries has become more bitter.
