Ontario: Hindu temples are being targeted continuously in Canada. The BAPS Swaminarayan temple in Ontario province was vandalized and anti-India slogans were written on the walls. The representatives of the temple informed the police about this and demanded action against the accused. Objectionable slogans against India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and slogans in support of Khalistan are written on the walls of the temple. The BAPS organization has expressed grief over the targeting of the Swaminarayan Temple in Windsor. A spokesperson of the organization said, “We were surprised to see anti-India slogans on the walls of our temple. The incident has been reported to the local police for immediate action. Acting on the complaint, the police has released the CCTV footage of the accused. The footage showed two masked men coming at night and then writing anti-India slogans on the wall. This is the fifth incident since July 2022 in which temples have been targeted and objectionable slogans written on walls. On February 14, the Ram Mandir in Mississauga, located in the GTA, was targeted. In Canada, several idols were also vandalized at the Gauri Shankar temple in Brampton and the Vishnu temple in Richmond. Khalistan supporters have also targeted Mahatma Gandhi’s statue several times and written anti-India slogans. There has been a sharp increase in cases related to hatred against Indians and anti-India activities. The Government of India requested a proper investigation into these incidents.
