Dharamsala: Delhi Capitals (DC), who have been eliminated from the IPL, chased down the target of 213 for 2 with the help of Riley Rosso’s 37-ball 82, Prithvi Shaw’s half-century, David Warner’s 46 and Phil Salt’s 26 in their last match here today. Despite the efforts of Liam Livingstone, Punjab Kings only reached 198 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs, Delhi Capitals won by 15 runs.
Punjab Kings got off to a poor start to the target, though Prabhasimran Singh and Atharva Taide put on a 50-run partnership. Prabhasimran was dismissed for 22 runs. From here, Atharva and Liam Livingstone took over and shared a partnership of 78 runs. Atharva retired after scoring 55 runs off 42 balls. Livingstone tried to single-handedly lead Punjab to victory and was dismissed for a personal 94 off the last ball as Delhi won by 15 runs.
Batting first after losing the toss, Warner and Prithvi gave Delhi Capitals a strong start by putting 61 runs on the board without a wicket in the powerplay. There were 94 runs on the scoreboard when Warner was dismissed for 46 off 31 balls. Prithvi and Rosso then put on a half-century partnership and with Prithvi dismissed for 54 off 38 balls, Delhi lost their second wicket for 148 runs. From here Rosso batted aggressively with Salt adding 65 runs to the score in the last 5 overs. Rosso was 82 off 37 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes and Salt remained not out by scoring 26 runs off 14 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes.
