New Delhi: The Tesla company, famous for its luxury and expensive cars all over the world, is now preparing to launch a cheap electric car for the mass market. Tesla has also recently released a teaser of two of the company’s upcoming electric vehicles. It is being said that Tesla Inc. is ready for domestic as well as export market. Tesla has proposed setting up a factory in India to manufacture electric cars.
Talking about Tesla’s first electric vehicle to be launched, Tesla’s smallest and cheapest model is ‘Model 2’. According to the teaser, the car looks like a high-riding crossover. It is likely that the company may use the styling and design elements of the Model-Y and Model-3 available in the market.
It is being said that the car will be small in size and is being prepared for the mass-market. It will be cheaper compared to the models available in the market. Due to which it is hoped that its sales will increase.
How many battery packs can Tesla provide?
Currently, no official information has been shared by the company, but if media reports are to be believed, the company can provide a battery pack with a capacity of approximately 60kWh. It is believed that the new Tesla will be launched in the market with sub 50kWh and approximately 300-350 km range. In the shareholders meeting, Tesla boss Elon Musk said that the company will soon launch two new electric cars and the company can produce more than five million units of these two vehicles in a year.
In the past days, there was news that a group of senior officials of the company Tesla Inc. had come to India. According to sources, Tesla Inc has discussed with officials India’s incentives for car and battery manufacturing.
Tesla is looking at entering the Indian market from a different perspective, said a person associated with the project. The company has proposed to set up a factory in India to manufacture electric vehicles (EVs). It has also been reported that Tesla officials met India’s IT Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar on Thursday but no official information about this has been released by the company or the ministry.

When Elon Musk asked for tax relief
Elon Musk once responded to a user in a post on the social networking site Twitter saying that ‘he is struggling with the government to launch his Tesla cars in India.’ A user asked Elon Musk on Twitter, ‘When are they launching Tesla cars in India.’ Also the government rejected Elon Musk’s ‘challenging’ claims.
Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said in a press conference held in December last year that ‘Tesla boss Elon Musk is welcome in India. If they manufacture their vehicles in our country. However, it is not possible. If they are manufacturing in China and only want market in India. Gadkari further said that if Musk starts his own production plant in any Indian state, he will be able to avail all the facilities.
