Unions’ real motivation to strike is to damage the Tories politically in election year

Wreckers’ plot

JUST four days into 2024 the unions are busy orchestrating the shutdown of Britain.

The junior doctors, led abysmally by the BMA’s Corbynite dolts, downed stethoscopes yesterday for six days, sentencing sick NHS patients to prolonged suffering and even death.

Now the RMT, after Christmas and New Year break from their incessant walkouts, plan another series next week almost entirely closing London’s Tube.

Why? Because the five per cent pay rise the Mick Lynch mob have been offered, above 4.2 per cent inflation, still isn’t enough.

At least that’s the excuse.

The real motive, of course, is to damage the Tories politically in election year as part of the movement’s wider campaign to install Labour.

And no wonder it wants Keir Starmer in No10.

Labour has admitted that, if elected, it intends to turn Britain into a paradise for the comrades by actually legislating to make strikes MORE damaging for the public.

This they would do by scrapping the Tory requirement for minimum service levels to be maintained.

Hard to believe?

Here’s what deputy leader Angela Rayner told the TUC last year: “The next Labour Government will repeal these anti-trade union laws within our first 100 days so you can get on with your jobs of fighting for your members.”

That’s a gold-embossed invitation for more exorbitant public sector pay demands, backed by more strikes . . . and ultimately a surrender to them by a Labour regime funded by the unions.

A disaster for Britain and for taxpayers.

Take her gong

JANET Skinner’s life-wrecking ordeal at the hands of callous Post Office managers reads like a tale of the bleakest horror from Stalin’s Soviet Union.

An innocent postmistress falsely accused of stealing, marched off the premises, torn from her kids, convicted and slung in prison with child killers.

All because of a nationwide computer flaw her bosses refused to admit to.

Read her heartbreaking story on Pages 12 and 13.

Then consider millionaire Paula Vennells, the ex-PO chief who presided over these monstrous injustices but is sitting pretty in retirement with a CBE.

Stripping her of that ill-deserved bauble won’t compensate victims like Janet. But it’s a start.

Zombies v AI

SOME good news for once. Our brains are still more advanced than AI.

Which means the Terminator-style conquest of the planet by malevolent machines remains some way off. Great.

On the other hand we do now have teenagers, zombified by TikTok, picketing blameless clothes shops because some ignorant halfwit told them they “support genocide in Gaza”.

Some human brains are more advanced than others.
