Royals’ kindness a lesson to trolls
WHO could have imagined a year ago that the King and Princess of Wales would sit down to an intimate lunch to discuss the fact that both have cancer?
In a bitterly cruel twist of fate, they were both diagnosed in similar ways, with the disease being found after treatment for other conditions.

At one point, they even ended up in the same private hospital at the same time.
The King was said to be “emotional” after his poignant heart-to-heart with Kate, who he sees as a daughter.
This one-to-one meeting at Windsor Castle, almost certainly unprecedented, shows the enduring strength of the monarchy.
As with any family facing such an ordeal, they must be allowed time to heal out of the spotlight.
The pathetic apologies of those who spread online rumours about Kate ring hollow.
Like the trolls who continue to peddle disgraceful lies, they pile pressure on the family at one of its most vulnerable times.
These misguided fools are taken in by the cardboard cutout version of the royals from so many TV recreations.
But behind the pomp of our monarchy is a living, breathing family.
That reality has now been hammered home to billions around the world.
With the kind of unity shown by the King and Kate, the Royal Family will not only beat this crisis.
It will come back even stronger and more popular because of it.
Tax avoidance
ARROGANT tax bosses should hang their heads in shame for trying to close HMRC’s self-assessment helpline for half the year.
Despite being frustratingly difficult to reach, the manned phone service is vital for millions baffled by the ludicrous complexities of the tax system.
Mercifully Chancellor Jeremy Hunt ordered them to keep the lines open.
But now we learn that before the shutdown bid, tax bosses splurged nearly £1million of our money on office furniture.
At least with comfy new chairs and swanky desks, they’ve got no excuse not to crack on with helping the taxpayers who pay their wages — all year round.
