Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla will visit the international space station under Axiom Mission 4 in May. Union Minister Jitendra Singh gave this information on Social Media X on Friday. In this mission, four astronauts from four countries are going to space station for 14 days. Group captain Shubhanshu Shukla has been selected for this mission under the agreement between NASA and ISRO.
Jitendra Singh wrote – India is ready to write a new chapter in its space journey. Group captain Shubhanshu Shukla will be the first person to visit the international space station and the second Indian to go to space. Earlier, Rakesh Sharma traveled in 1984 to a spacecraft of the Soviet Union.
Three more astronauts will go with Shubhanshu
The Axiome 4 mission crew includes members of India, Poland and Hungary. After 1978, Slavoj Uznansky will be the second astronaut to go to Poland. After 1980, Tibore Kapu will be the second Hungarian astronaut to go into space. This is the second commercial human space flight mission of American Peggie Whitson.
Shubhanshu Shukla is a resident of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. His preliminary education was completed from City Montessori School in Aliganj, Lucknow. After 12th grade, he passed the entrance examination of the National Defense Academy (NDA) and obtained a graduation degree from there.
The NDA is a leading organization in India to train officer cadets for the Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force). In addition to training it also offers educational degrees that are affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
