You’ll find Wandsworth conveniently positioned alongside the River Thames in London’s transport zones 2 and 3. Battersea and Clapham to the east of the borough border Vauxhall and the edge of zone 1. The boundary stretches as far as Putney Heath and Roehampton to the west and Tooting to the south. Fulham is just a short hop across Wandsworth Bridge. What’s it like to live in Wandsworth?

Wandsworth is certainly a great place to be active, whether enjoying its parks, running by the river or working out at one of its many gyms or health clubs.
The area has a relaxed, family feel and is home to plenty of excellent restaurants and cafés. The historical association of Wandsworth with the Young’s Brewery ensures Wandsworth has more than its fair share of fantastic pubs.
Perhaps Wandsworth flies a little under the radar owing to its shortage of Underground services. Like many parts of South West London, the Underground doesn’t serve large parts of Wandsworth.
The area is well connected though, by other modes of transport. South West Trains services call across the borough. There are lines running out through Putney to the west and Wimbledon and Balham to the south. The District and Northern lines do provide some Underground coverage to the borough, but if you live in Wandsworth, there’s a good chance you’ll rely more on the excellent bus services and trains between the main areas.
By road, the A3 cuts from east to west across the borough, providing routes towards the Surrey suburbs. The A23 and A24 act as arteries leading out to the southerly London boroughs. While there are plenty of main roads connecting the borough, there are also excellent options for active travel. The borough has a wealth of cycling routes and scenic walks through Wandsworth’s many parks and along the River Thames.
The extremely high prices in the most desirable parts of the borough skew Wandsworth’s prices somewhat, including Wandsworth Town, Balham and the exclusive riverside developments of Battersea.
