Orange County’s $86 billion retail market has surpassed London’s. What happens on their runway is beginning to explain why.
California Fashion Week℠ — also known as OC Fashion Week®, The Luxury Market of California® — is making tidal waves across the United States. And the world is starting to feel the current.

Jesse J Collections makes history at the Casino Ballroom, Catalina Island — premiering the first runway show of the century, featuring model Chanel Barnes, Vid frame by Marsh Allen.
Britain has long held the conviction that it leads the world in fashion innovation. London Fashion Week. Savile Row. Central Saint Martins. The argument has always felt self-evident. But a four-night runway production that concluded on the 28th of March 2026 in Orange County, California is quietly — and convincingly — making the case that the United States is not following Britain’s lead. It is establishing its own.
Orange County commands an $86 billion retail market. London — a global capital with centuries of commerce behind it — commands approximately $80 billion. Orange County is not a city. It is not a country. It is not a state. And it achieved this without the aid of Los Angeles. The US luxury market is not catching up to Britain. In at least one corner of California, it has already arrived — and moved quietly ahead.
Where It Began: A Legacy Move On Catalina Island
It began, as all great seasons must, with a moment of history. Jesse J Collections — celebrity stylist and womenswear house — delivered an extraordinary opening at the Casino Ballroom on Catalina Island, the first runway show of the century at the iconic 1930s landmark standing twenty-six miles off the Southern California coast. To open OC Fashion Week® on that stage was not simply an opportunity seized. It was a legacy move — for the brand, for the island, and for California fashion. Alongside Jesse J Collections, Luna Fashion House and rising talent Vanessa Lozada completed a Catalina Island opening night that set an impossibly high bar for everything that followed.
Whilst Britain Theorises, California Delivers
The season’s most culturally significant evening arrived on the 27th of March at My Sister’s Closet and Well Suited — a Newport Beach consignment boutique transformed into a fully produced luxury runway showspace. Adolfo Sanchez (Netflix), presented by My Sister’s Closet and in collaboration with Devon Poer, California Regional Director, delivered a landmark showcase of reclaimed and recycled wear that stopped the room. The audience rose to their feet.

Whilst Britain continues to theorise circular fashion at the industry level, California priced it, staged it, and sold it in the same evening — models left having purchased their favourite looks directly from the runway floor.
Heather Zorge, CEO of Eco-Chic Consignments, understood the significance:
“We’ve always believed fashion should feel inspiring, inclusive, and connected to the community. Hosting OC Fashion Week in our Newport Beach store allows us to celebrate personal style in a truly meaningful way.”
The Finale That Left The Room Without Words
The season closed at Ever Club, Tustin — Orange County’s most anticipated new luxury membership community. Max Jenny opened in an eruption of colour that silenced the room before igniting it — a royal favourite whose joy is her signature. Diego Fashions announced itself with the quiet confidence of a label that knows precisely what it is. Stefan Miguel brought coveted after-dark California glamour to the runway. Kailani Fountaine delivered a standout moment of singular vision.
Kyle Denman (Project Runway, OWN) brought displaced youth mentees down the runway alongside a collaboration with Emma Roberts of Daisy Desert Jewelry — fashion with purpose, not merely polish. Jesse J Collections returned with a commanding menswear presentation. The OC Ballet Theater, featuring the artistry of Dmitri Kulev Classical Ballet, performed live alongside jeweller VL Cepher in a moment that collapsed the boundary between performance art and fashion entirely.
Then Anna Gupta closed the season in a standing ovation that no one had planned and everyone felt. Her gowns — coveted, California-dreamed, impossibly elegant — did not close a show. They closed an era and opened another.
OC Fashion Week® 2026 is approaching over one million Instagram views. The waitlist amongst international designers is growing.
Britain has always known how to lead in fashion. The question now is whether it is still paying attention to who else is leading — and how gracefully they are doing it.
