New Delhi: Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google’s parent company Alphabet, has been honored with the Padma Bhushan. This honor was given to him by Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Ambassador of India to America. He has been awarded the Padma Bhushan for 2022 in the trade and industry category. On being honoured, Pichai said that India has always been close to me. Wherever I go, I always take the country with me. Received the award in San Francisco in the presence of close family members. Pichai accepted the award from Indian Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and said, “I am very grateful to the Government of India and the people of India for this immense honor.” Sundar Pichai has been CEO of Google’s parent company Alphabet since 2019. Sundar Pichai became the head of Google in 2014. 50-year-old Pichai was born on June 10, 1972 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Sundar Pichai grew up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and studied at IIT. He then did his Masters from Stanford University and then his MBA from the Wharton School. In 2004, he started working in Google. Padma Bhushan is India’s third highest civilian award. Before this comes the number of Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan. It started in 1954.
