Italy: In news around the world, sometimes, somewhere there is something that grabs everyone’s attention. Italy also has something similar for some days. A city named Portofino of Italy is very beautiful and Benmoon. Millions of tourists can enjoy it to their heart’s content, but cannot take its memory with them. The reason behind this is that taking selfies is prohibited in this city from 10.30 am to 6 pm and if you violate it, you will be charged Rs. A fine of 25 thousand is imposed.
Italy is famous worldwide for many factors like natural beauty, cleanliness, discipline. There is a very beautiful city called Portofilo on the river Italia. The history of the city is unique and the people here are involved in the fishing business. Over time resorts started here and now the tourism industry has also grown significantly. Colorful houses are another feature here. Factors like cleanliness, warm welcome, picturesqueness of the river Italia along with natural beauty attract people and hence Portofino has grown to be a leading tourist destination not only in Italy but also in the world.
However, now the big news for the tourists is that a ban has been imposed on taking selfies i.e. photography in this city from 10.30 am to 6 pm i.e. for most of the day. This ban is also being strictly enforced and if anyone violates the ban and takes a selfie, takes a photo, then he has to pay a fine of 275 Euros which is approximately 25000 rupees.
The villain behind this ban is the beauty of Portofino itself. Because the city is so beautiful that anyone entering the city immediately feels like taking a selfie or photo. Factors like natural beauty, houses painted in different colors, greenery, beautiful and diverse people, entice tourists to take selfies. Locals believe that a tourist cannot restrain himself and causes chaos.
Portofino Mayor Mateo Viakawa said that tourists themselves are actually responsible for banning selfies. When tourists come to the city, they park their vehicles anywhere and start taking selfies. Many tourists stop their vehicles in the middle of the road and start taking photos without worrying about the traffic. Due to which traffic jams, fights and peace are disturbed. In particular, the local people of Portofino had complained widely several times, following which this decision had to be taken.
Now, wherever you go to cheer up your mind, to spend a holiday, you bring photos-selfies of that place with you as a memory. But you won’t be able to bring back memories of peak hours visiting this Italian town of Portofina.
