Stunned at her huge haul, Danielle Harrison took to social media to alert other shoppers.
Posting on Yellow sticker shopping tips, tricks and hauls, a private Facebook group with 160,700 members, Danielle posted a snap of her purchases – four 600-gram packs of skinless and boneless British chicken thigh fillets.
Whilst each pack was previously priced at £4.50, Danielle nabbed each pack for just 10p each – yes, you heard that correctly.
With her yellow sticker haul costing a total of just 40p, Danielle beamed: “Thrilled with my bargain tonight.”
The savvy mum then added: “£17.60 saving.”
On 7th April, in one of the retailer’s Daily convenience stores, Danielle was able to get her hands on four packs of chicken, which were dated best before 7th April.
She later shared: “The chicken is absolutely fabulous and is now all comfy in my freezer ready to split into four different meals for my family of four.
“Not bad for 40p.”
Danielle shared her post just 11 hours ago, but it has impressed many, as it has quickly amassed almost 200 likes.
Social media users were left open-mouthed at the whopping reductions and many took to the comments to express this.
SHOPPERS RAVE
Shoppers claimed that you ‘never get prices that low’ and claimed that you ‘can’t do better than that’.
One person asked: “Never get this low at Tesco. Which supermarket is this and how long before closing?”
To this, Danielle replied and confirmed: “Morrisons Daily. Approximately an hour.”
Another added: “That is the best meat on the chicken – great for stir fry and curry. Great bargains.”
A third commented: “You did well, I’m in Essex and our Morrisons prices have never been that low.”
At the same time, someone else wrote: “So lucky.”
Whilst another chimed in: “You can’t do better than that!”
Meanwhile, another Morrisons fan claimed: “That’s good, meat bargains are rare around here.”
How can I save money on my supermarket shop?
THERE are plenty of ways to save on your grocery shop.
You can look out for yellow or red stickers on products, which show when they’ve been reduced.
If the food is fresh, you’ll have to eat it quickly or freeze it for another time.
Making a list should also save you money, as you’ll be less likely to make any rash purchases when you get to the supermarket.
Going own brand can be one easy way to save hundreds of pounds a year on your food bills too.
This means ditching “finest” or “luxury” products and instead going for “own” or value” type of lines.
Plenty of supermarkets run wonky veg and fruit schemes where you can get cheap prices if they’re misshapen or imperfect.
For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme, offering boxes of 5kg of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.
If you’re on a low income and a parent, you may be able to get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers to use at the supermarket too.
Plus, many councils offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund.
