Earlier this year, HomeViews become part of Rightmove, with the goal of providing an even better experience for home movers. Following this, we have reviewed our Privacy Policy and wanted to let you know that we’ve made some updates, which will take effect on 17th September 2024. These changes are aimed at making our policy clearer and more in line with current standards.
You can read this updated Privacy Policy here: https://www.homeviews.com/privacy-policy.
What changes have been made to our Privacy Policy?
Most of the changes coming into effect in September 2024 have been to simplify wording, add clarity and to better align with Rightmove. Here are the key changes that could affect you:
- Property Enquiries: When you make an enquiry about a development via our website, this will now be processed under Legitimate Interests. This does not change how we collect or process your data for the purpose of sending the enquiry, and you will see no change in the services provided.
- Reviews: We have a Legitimate Interest to publish your review on HomeViews and Rightmove platforms. This does not change the purpose of collecting and using the data, which is still to provide a comprehensive review of the development. It just means that your reviews may now also appear on the development listing on Rightmove, as well as on HomeViews.
- Customer Services: When messaging or speaking with HomeViews, we will now process your data under Legitimate Interests, to respond to your queries and provide support to you. This does not change how we collect, process or use your personal data.
- Sharing of Data:
- We have clarified that we may be legally required to share personal data with law enforcement agencies or fraud prevention agencies where required.
- We may also share data with Rightmove to provide extra services and to publish your reviews on the Rightmove website.
- Storage of data: We have updated the legal frameworks under which we process personal data in the United States of America. We will use Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the UK-US Data Bridge for transfers of data from the UK to the United States of America. This provides better privacy protection, without changing how we use and store your data.
- Data Subject Rights: We have clarified that if you exercise your data subject rights, we will request specific information and identification documents from you to help us confirm your identity. This is a security measure to make sure that personal data is not shared with anyone who has no right to receive it, and to ensure we are only acting on the instructions of the data subject.
- Duty to Inform Us of Changes: Due to the nature of our services, we rely on the information you provide us when you enquire about a development/write a review/create an account. To make sure personal data we hold about you is accurate and current, we have clarified that you will need to keep us informed if your personal data changes during your relationship with us.
We hope the above explains the key changes and the impact these may have. You can view our Privacy Policy here.
How often will we make changes?
We are committed to regularly reviewing our Privacy Policy to make sure it is transparent and clear.
Where we make material changes, we will always notify you and publish the updated Privacy Policy on our website.
