The Axiom-4 mission was postponed until June 11 for the International Space Station (ISS) due to weather conditions. India’s astronaut group captain Shubhanshu Shukla was to fly with three other crew members for space mission. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) posted this information from its official X handle. ISRO stated that the new launch date is at 5:30 pm on June 11.
Shubhanshu Shukla is going to become the first Indian to go to the International Space Station (ISS). The yatra of Shubhanshu Shukla is taking place in 1984 after Rakesh Sharma’s journey four decades. He traveled into space in Russia’s Soyuz spacecraft. In 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced from the Red Fort that the sons and daughters of India will soon go into space. Shukla was later involved in the ISRO astronaut selection process in 2019.
Axiom Mission is a joint initiative of US space agency NASA and ISRO of India. The crew members of the Axom-4 mission will travel to the international space headquarters. Here they will carry out mission on laboratory rotation as well as a mission on science, outreach and commercial efforts. In January 2025, Shubhanshu Shukla was selected as a pilot for the X-4 mission of NASA and ISRO.
Shubhanshu Shukla praised the extraordinary talent in the country by moving the space startup economy. He said that during this mission he would work as a pilot. They will also manage the system. “I will navigate the vehicle and see all the data available,” he said.
Apart from the pilot Shukla of the Axiom-4 mission, other crew members include Slavos Ujnansky-Visnivsky of Poland, Tibore Kapu of Hungary and American astronaut Peggy Whitson.
